4 Small Kitchen Appliances Over $100 but Worth It!
There are so many great kitchen gadgets offering new ways to prepare food or easing one or more food prepping process. My typical and immediate questions are usually, however, do I really need it, how much does it cost, and where am I going to put it in the kitchen. So with those questions in mind, here are my top 4 small kitchen appliances over $100 but worth it!
The 4 Small Kitchen Appliances
- High Powered Blender – This baby is a workhorse in our kitchen. There are other blenders, including a few others we’ve tried, but none have compared to our Vitamix. We purchased the Vitamix 5200 over 12+ years ago. It was more expensive than many of the other “comparable” blenders, and I can see why. This would be my #1 recommendation to save up for. We use it daily and have enjoyed many delicious smoothies, cold ice cream, coffee cream, dips, hummus, dressings, salsas, gravies, and hot soups,
- Dehydrator – We’ve had 12+ great years using our L’EQUIP FilterPro Dehydrator so far. Initially I didn’t think we really needed all the trays, but the space has been filled to capacity so many times…definitely glad to have it. We’ve dehydrated herbs, nuts, and all kinds of fruits that have all turned out to be so much more flavorful than the store-bought versions. I love this filtered dehydrator,
- Vacuum Sealer – We’ve saved money, time, and avoided quite a bit of food spoilage by using our FoodSaver Vacuum Sealer along with some strategic accessories. I have a FoodSaver V3880 (which has been discontinued now but is similar to the FM5200 or V4440). I’ve also got (and regularly use vacuum jar sealer lids and bags,
- Juicers – We purchased our juicer a few years ago, when we really wanted to up our nutrient intake. When doing the research, we opted for the Omega Masticating Juicer. Masticating juicers are able to pull more of the fresh juice from the fruits and vegetables, including leafy greens, which in the long run saves us money. We commonly use our juicer to prepare high-nutrient drinks to go with meals weekly, and even sometimes daily during those seasons when everybody around us is getting sick.
Considerations
We knew we had some challenges in our kitchen that we needed to improve. So as we researched, we considered existing expenses (time and money) in relation to:
- Functions & benefits of individual products
- How we would & might use each product
- Legitimate reviews with truly helpful information
In the long run, by the time you calculate how much money was spent in the area for juices, smoothies, and snacks alone, the Vitamix, vacuum sealer, dehydrator, and juicer have easily paid for themselves.
As an example, after having done A Lot of research and becoming very determined to get a Vitamix to replace our existing, regular functioning blender, I even suggested considering it as a gift to me covering my birthday, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, and our anniversary. I think my husband thought I was crazy at the time, but he now uses it daily, just like me. It’s great to know I can just throw real ingredients in and come out with something fast, actually cheaper than store-bought, and with the highest level of nutrients that my family can access. Well. That’s enough said for me.
What about you and your kitchen? Have you been thinking about purchasing one of these?
Here are just two posts giving examples of how we use the Vitamix and the dehydrator.
