Hi! I’m Elaine, The Food and Living Coach.
Growing up, I was Very active. While dance classes took up most of my days, I was also part of various sports teams, twirling, playing various instruments, as well as working my way through school and teaching dance. I wasn’t really thinking about my health, even though back then I was already having problems with my cycle. I relocated to the big city for an exciting job with a curious and energized toddler, but soon after remarrying and growing our family, my symptoms really began to worsen, including increasing problems with my cycle that landed me in the hospital, but also weight gain, fatigue, anxiety and brain fog, a collection of digestive frustrations, and more.
During that time, I transitioned from corporate America to home and home schooling. I started working out again and increased that more and more. I also began asking questions whenever I visited a doctor, since I was sick a lot with responses varying from “lose some weight”, “start exercising”, to “I’m going to give you a prescription for…”. Did they not actually hear what I had just told them?
I did have some weight loss success when I joined a very popular meeting and tracking-driven weight loss program, but some of my other symptoms increased, making some aspects of my life even more difficult. Uggghhh…
Lots of Questions; Different Testing
Then, after a move, I happened to meet a practitioner with additional training beyond what you typically experience with a “conventionally-trained” practitioner, who asked a bunch of questions and ran a different test from those that had been run before. I learned I had a low-functioning thyroid and to look into a possible problem with gluten And cut back on my workouts.
THAT was the day I really began my journey to real health!
I stopped gluten immediately. Also, I stopped my workouts, all my workouts, for a time. My symptoms began easing within days.
There’s an abundance of delicious recipes to support healing and I quickly began integrating many into our meal rotations while also adjusting our favorites. Healthy lifestyle adjustments were and still are a big part of the process too.
I dove deeply into integrative and functional medicine and soon realized I Had to share this with other women just like me.
I enrolled in Functional Medicine Coaching Academy and Nutritional Endocrinology Practitioner Training. As I studied for these and other certifications, I continued my personal research while adjusting my food and lifestyle to be more and more health-supporting and felt more and more clear-thinking, energized, and pain free.
