4 Gifts for the Kitchen That Are Worth It!
It’s a big deal when we decide to buy a more expensive tool for our home, especially when we have a doable process already. But when we started noticing differences, we knew we wanted to get serious. Part of that process were these 4 gifts for the kitchen.
Yes. We did call them gifts.
Back Then
If you looked at our kitchen back then, you would have thought we had plenty of tools and gadgets. And these 4 tools were all over $100.
But let’s look at the big picture here:
- 3 meals a day and we wanted to eat more real food
- very busy home schooling family with limited time available
- either going to continue to spend money (a little here, a little there) forever Or one big purchase and it’s done
Can you relate?
Considerations
We knew we had some challenges in our kitchen that we needed to improve. So as we researched, we considered existing expenses (time and money) in relation to:
- Functions & benefits of individual products
- How we would & might use each product
- Legitimate reviews with truly helpful information
The 4 Gifts for the Kitchen
- High Powered Blender – This baby is a workhorse in our kitchen. There are other blenders, including a few others we’ve tried, but none have compared to our Vitamix. We purchased the Vitamix 5200 over 10 years ago. It was more expensive than many of the other “comparable” blenders, and I can see why. This would be my #1 recommendation to save up for. We use it daily and have enjoyed many delicious smoothies, cold ice cream, coffee cream, dips, hummus, dressings, salsas, gravies, and hot soups.
- Dehydrator – We’ve had 11 great years using our L’EQUIP FilterPro Dehydrator so far. Initially I didn’t think we really needed all the trays, but the space has been filled to capacity so many times…definitely glad to have it. We’ve dehydrated herbs, nuts, and all kinds of fruits that have all turned out to be so much more flavorful than the store-bought versions. I love this filtered dehydrator.
- Mixer and More – There are quite a few mixers and food processors and other kitchen gadgets out there, so this is only one example. We chose Bosch Universal several years ago for so many reasons:
- More powerful than other mixers, you can easily mix up and knead bread dough for multiple loaves or multiple batches of cookies…saving loads of time
- Lots of attachment options to combine and use in the same space
- Different packages available to buy what you want as you want
- Juicers – We purchased our juicer a few years ago, when we really wanted to up our nutrient intake. When doing the research, we opted for the Omega Masticating Juicer. Masticating juicers are able to pull more of the fresh juice from the fruits and vegetables, including leafy greens, which in the long run saves us money.
Possibilities
With each of these purchases we opened the doors wide on freshness, ingredient control, time saving, but also to new adventures that we knew we wanted to explore:
- homemade banana chips just taste different
- whole flax seeds and nuts are regular ingredients easily ground up in smoothies
- no weird ingredients and added sugars in incredibly flavorful juices, smoothies, soups, and more
- large quantities of vegetables get chopped up in seconds
In the long run, by the time you calculate how much money was spent in the area for juices, smoothies, and snacks alone, the Vitamix, Bosch, dehydrator, and juicer have easily paid for themselves. but it might be more significant when I consider the time savings, particularly with the Vitamix and Bosch. And knowing that I can just throw real ingredients in and come out with something fast, actually cheaper than store-bought, and the highest level of nutrients that my family can access. Well. That’s enough said for me.
What about you and your kitchen? Have you been thinking about purchasing one of these gifts, whether these particular brands or something similar?
Or maybe you’re looking at your budget and would really like to save money and time. Hey. I get it.
Whatever it is, I can definitely say that these 4 gifts turned out to be totally worth it in our household. Here are links to other posts where I’ve used them…just in case you’re interested:
